The Calanques of Cassis

The calanques are the most famous natural scenary in the area. There are many of those all along the coast between Cassis and Marseille. They can be visited from coast, some requiring relatively long and steep hike. They can also be visited by sea, many boats propose different tours for visit. Many departures from the small harbour of cassis.

The Cassis Bay

The first Calanque when leaving Cassis is Port-Miou. It's narrow and 1km long. This is a natural shelter where a marina was installed. It is known that under the sea water a high flow underground river is bringing rain water collected on Sainte Baume about 10km from there. View from entrance to the boats.
View when exiting Port-Miou.

En Vau is one of the most famous ones. Really steep and narrow, it gives a wonderfull scenary.

Port-Pin is a small calanque between Morgiou and Envau. More at human dimension, it is famous for swiming.
